Five things to know before you choose a car. Uganda is landlocked, so the sea port and the final destination are different.
Vehicle age
Uganda limits used vehicles to 15 years from the year of manufacture. A 2026 Traffic and Road Safety bill proposes 13. We confirm the exact cutoff and the bill’s status before every bid.
Import permit
We have not found a separate permit for ordinary used cars. Your clearing agent confirms the paperwork with URA.
Inspection
UNBS inspects used vehicles. A reported November 2024 directive moved inspection to Uganda and set a penalty for cars arriving without a certificate. We confirm the current route before shipping.
Sea port: Mombasa or Dar es Salaam
We ship to the sea port, then the car moves inland under customs transit. Sea freight and inland transport are quoted separately.
Customs clearance
URA assesses duties and levies for the Uganda import. Your agent arranges transit documents and clearance, and these costs are not part of a sea-port price.

Shipping from JapanIs a C&F price the price to Uganda?
No. FOB is the car loaded in Japan, and C&F or CIF stop at the sea port. Inland transport, transit documents, URA duties and levies and your agent’s fee come on top, so a sea-port price is not a delivered price.
