HOW TO BUY FROM KTJAPAN

Buying a car from Japan, step by step.

Two simple ways to buy: choose a car from our stock, or ask us to buy one for you at a Japanese auction. Either way you see the total price first and follow every step in your account.

Buying questions

Can I buy a car from Japan as a private buyer?

Yes. Most of our buyers are private individuals. We handle everything in Japan; you or your clearing agent handle customs in your country.

Is the price on the website the final price?

The total shown on each car page is calculated from the car price and current freight. Your proforma invoice confirms the final price. Duties and taxes in your country are extra.

Can you send more photos or a video of a car?

Yes. Ask in your account or on WhatsApp and we will send extra photos or a short video before you pay.

How long is a car reserved for me?

After you confirm your purchase, the car is reserved until the payment due date on your invoice (usually 7 days).

How does auction buying work?

You send us the lot and your maximum bid, pay a security deposit, and we bid for you. If we win, you pay the balance within 48 hours.

How much deposit do I need?

Your buying limit is five times your deposit: USD 1,000 covers up to USD 5,000, USD 2,000 up to USD 10,000, USD 3,000 up to USD 15,000 and USD 5,000 up to USD 25,000. Open bids and unpaid wins count together against the limit.

What happens to my deposit if I don’t win?

It stays in your account for your next bid request, or you can ask for a refund (bank charges apply).

What is included in “Auction & inland charges”?

One combined charge that covers auction house fees, the recycling fee, inland transport in Japan and Japanese taxes. Repairs are added only after you agree.
